Republic of Congo, also known as Congo-Brazzaville or just Congo, is a country in Africa, a former French colony. (Must not be confused with the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo). The capital is Brazzaville.

In the south, the country is characterized by mountain range mayombe rising from the coast and inland. The mountains are not particularly high, but is between 500 and 800 meters above sea level. The country's largest mountain is Leketi. The peak is 1,040 meters above sea level. The northern part of the country consists of flat valleys of rainforest. In the southern part of the country there are more rural districts and industry. Northeast of the mountains lies the river Niari. The areas around Niari is the best agricultural area. Niai flows from the mountains and down to the coast. Niari is a big river, but it is nowhere near the country's largest river, the Congo.

Republic of Congo is located in a tropical zone and annual precipitation varies from 1250 millimeters to 2000 millimeters. In the south there is a dry from June to September which is largely unchecked in the north. Temperatures are high throughout the year.
