Bradford is a city in West Yorkshire, England. It forms the core of the district of the City of Bradford. The city was designated as the city since 1897, but this was transferred to the district when it was created in 1974 and the Bradford is now a city within the township. The suburbs are Bradford the eleventh largest city in England.
Bradford is a city full of surprises. The city recently received the title as a UNESCO City of Film, Bradford has a thriving cultural life with a packed and award winning museums, galleries and impressive theaters. The latest addition to Bradford center, City Park, Bradford ingenious new high-tech water system that has special pool and beautiful, ever-changing high-tech fountains. There are several restaurants and pubs near the park and the National Media Museum and Impressions Gallery. The many beautiful Victorian buildings found throughout the city illustrate the impressive history and includes the area known as Little Germany and the Wool Exchange. A day out in Bradford and surrounding areas have much to offer. As Bradford tourist should visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Saltaire, perfectly preserved Victorian village and home to Salts Mill and the village of Haworth, the former home of the Brontes and Brontë Parsonage Museum. Odsal Stadium (home of rugby club Bradford Bulls) had the world record in the number of spectators at a rugby match (102 569 spectators in 1954), it is still the British record. Otherwise, the city is known for Bradford tragedy. There was a fire that broke out on stands at Bradford City Valley Parade AFCs stadium during a match in 1985. 56 people died. |
