Calgary is the largest city in the province of Alberta, Canada. It is located in the southern part of the province, in an area of mountains and high plains, approximately 80 km east of the Canadian Rockies. The city is located in the Parkland region of Alberta, and is the third largest city-the municipality, in terms of population, in Canada. It runs two major rivers through the city, the Bow River and the Elbow River. In 1988, Calgary was host for the winter Olympic Games.
Calgary has the warmest winters and the highest number of sunny days, compared to other cities in the area. Calgary has a number of multicultural areas. Forest Lawn is one of the most diverse areas of the city and the neighborhood is also known as International Avenue. The district is home to many ethnic restaurants and shops. Calgary was designated as one of the cultural capitals of Canada in 2012. Alberta Ballet is the third largest dance company in Canada, the city has a number of theater companies, a number of with the marching band and several museums are located in the city. The Centre has a mix of restaurants and bars, cultural attractions, squares that includes the Olympic Plaza and shopping. Tourist attractions in the City Centre include the Calgary Zoo, the Telus Conference Centre, kick, Telus, the Chinatown district, the Glenbow Museum, the Calgary Tower, the Art Gallery of Calgary, Military Museum and EPCOR Centre for the performing arts. Devon Gardens is one of the largest urban indoor gardens in the world. Prince's Park, Iceland is a city park located just north of Eau Claire district.
